V/P-Fundraising
With the money we collected
at the Christmas concert for our Christmas angel, we were able to get him
everything he wanted. We got him skates, drums, helmet and clothes. We sold 120 tickets for the dinner. We made $610.00 and our profit was $150.00.
Carrabba’s night will be March 6th.
Golf Tournament will be March
22nd or March 29th.
This is a fund raiser for the student’s accounts. The hole will be $50.00 and a tee marker will
be $100.00. A business that still has a
sign from previous years will pay but all of that will go towards the child’s
account.
May’s dinner and a concert we
are looking to cook something on the grill and try to serve it by the Cafe.
We would like to try to find
someone for next year to learn how to work the slushie
machine. Also we would like to try to
purchase another small one to keep in the Café and put the three hopper out at the Grill.
A one hopper will cost $1,175.00 and a two hopper will cost
$1,695.00.
Candle fundraiser? 50% profit and all goes to the child’s
account. There will be $7.00 candles and
$12.00 candles. We need to decide if we
want to do this before Mother’s Day.
Motion was made by Kathy
Kruger to accept the V/P Fundraiser report.
Pam Gafford 2nd the motion.
Jim Williams –
Treasurer-(was absent)
Karen asked if there was any
question because Jim was out of town due to his mother’s illness. There weren’t any questions in regards to the
report.
V/P’s of Café and Concession
Café has had basketball and
the grill has had soccer games. Both
Sharon and Carolyn are working them as we speak. They want to thank everyone that has helped
out with one or the other.
Mr. DuBay
– (was absent)
Karen wanted everyone to know
that everything that anyone should need to know about is on the website.
Anyone who wants to march in the
Martin Luther King parade on Saturday can contact Eileen Hall. We will need to get water together before we

on January 19th. Report time
is 3:00 p.m. She has 12 people so far
but needs 16 if possible.
District Jazz contest will be
at the fairgrounds on February 8th.
March 27th we are
going to host a Middle school/Durant Band concert. A high school band from
April Moody wanted to let us
know that the Colorguard will be performing on
February 9th . The show is awesome and their props are
wonderful. There is a bridge and the
floor looks like a coy pond. They will
be selling winter-guard t-shirts for $10.00.
She wants us to check into hosting a Color quard
premier at Durant. We will have to find
out about a covering for the basketball courts.
Newsome is hosting a premier and has 64 winter guard teams attending.
Karen asked if there was any other questions, and there wasn’t any. Meeting was
adjourned at 7:41 p.m.
Durant Music Booster Meeting
December 11, 2007
The
Band presented its 2007 Winter Concert that night. Becky Buckingham brought to our attention that
Durant sponsors an Angel Tree for Hillsborough County Foster Children. We adopted Carlos, and took up a collection,
church-style, to raise money to purchase the gifts on his Christmas list. We raised $405.00! Everyone’s compassion and generosity was
very much appreciated. The concert was
great as usual. We appreciated
everyone’s attendance and the hard work Mr. DuBay
puts in to the music program and our children.
Have a great holiday break everyone!

Eileen Hall thanked everyone
for chaperoning the football games and competitions. She also wanted the parents that are
chaperoning state on Saturday that if they are on the field with the band they
will not be able to go up into the stands from the field. There was a letter sent out by FMBC stating
this rule.
We also want to thank Sharon
Braddock for doing such a good job with calling and setting people up for the
café and concession stand.
Betty Nelson reported that
the color-guard is doing great.
Debbie Williams wanted to let
the parents know that all of the band students will be getting a new pair of

Plus the kids have been very good at remembering to take everything with

First he wanted to apologize
for the students for having to make their tapes. The auditions in May will be live.
He then said that the

meeting. The meeting came to order at
7:00 p.m.
Karen also motioned to
dispense of the reading of the minutes from September’s meeting. Sharon Wallace motioned not to read them and
Steve Braddock 2nd the motion.
Karen Martin asked if all of
the parents got their name badges and if they hadn’t received them yet to come
and see her after the meeting.
Thank you to everyone that
worked WCI. A great big thank you
especially for the main committee chairs. Also on the note of thank you, we want to
thank everyone that has been helping in the concession stand when needed. With all of the help we have been getting it
has made the load a little lighter.
Karen announced that she would be selling WCI t-shirts at the end of the
meeting for $10.00.
Becky Buckingham –
V/P-Fundraising
Fundraising tent at WCI went
very well. Thank you again Color-guard
moms!
11th graders won
Chick-Fil-A coupon sell. Color-guard had 93% towards the selling the
coupons. We made $700.00 from the coupon
sale.
Fresh greenery fundraiser
starts Monday, October 15th.
The money that is earned from your child selling this will go directly
into his or hers account.
Jim Williams – Treasurer
Jim reviewed the treasurer
report and asked if there were any questions.
Traci Dyer did ask about the $10,000 debit still owed by band
students. Jim explained that it is an
amount that unfortunately ends up happening at the end of every year.
Jim reported that we made
$3,000.00 - $4,000.00 from WCI. We had a
bunch of donated Pepsi left over but that will be pure profit when selling them
at the football games and other events at the concession stand.
Jim also said that if you
needed to know your child’s account balance to see him after the meeting.
Karen asked to accept the
Treasurer report. Donna Jackson made
the motion and Steve Braddock 2nd the motioned.
Mr. DuBay
He wanted to first start off
with thanking all of the parents and students that worked very hard to make WCI
a success. 3 of the band directors from
schools that participated sent letters to him on how organized it was and
everything ran flawless. And especially
how all the bands ran on time.
Unfortunately there were a bunch of competitions going on all around us
in the surrounding counties.
The itinerary is up on the
website for the Chamberlin competition. The kids will get a meal there and it will be
$5.00. The meal will be a hamburger,
chips and a drink. If they have the money
in their account we will just take it from there. If not you will need to put $5.00 into the
red box prior to the competition.
Please take a look at the schedule and come out to support the students. Make lots of noise and go as crazy as you
want. We won’t be back to the school
until midnight. We will only get
thirteen passes for the chaperones so bring extra money in case we have to buy
more arm bands for the balance of the chaperones. There will be 17 – 18 bands and the
competition starts at 2:00 or 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 11th
there will be a parade for the Homecoming pep rally. They need to wear their Aerosmith
band show shirt with jeans or shorts. We
will march around the track and then stand and play. We will be playing after the Home-coming
football game on Friday night, October 12th.
Friday, October 19th
will be Senior night.
We will be recognizing the Seniors at 7:00 p.m.
in the stands before the game. Seniors
will get to go to the concession stand after half time.
Our
Karen asked if any of the
committee chairpersons would like to say anything about WCI. Peggy Augensen
wanted to thank all of the people who helped her at ticketing and gate. Henry Dilport
wanted to thank everyone who helped with parking and equipment. He said he couldn’t have done it without all
of their help. Paula Sweat and Lisa
Hughes also wanted to thank everyone that helped at Hospitality. This is a big part of WCI and without the
people to take the bands around the competition wouldn’t run smoothly. And a special thank you goes out to Kelly Andreu for getting all the donations.
Also a big thank you to Barry
Fisher for arranging with Publix to get the big
freezer truck, without it we wouldn’t have been able to keep all the food and
drinks cold. Henry Dilport
also wanted to give a big thank you to Hank Wehle for
all the last minute trips he made to Wal-mart and Lowes to pick up things that were needed.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:40
p.m.
